Pump Station Monitoring for Water Utilities
Vibration Analysis typically requires special testing to ensure resonant and critical frequencies are not present in vertical turbine pumps. Most pumping station applications will need to conform to Hydraulic Institutes Standard of Rotodynamic Pumps for Vibration Measurement and Allowable Values (ANSI/HI 9.6.4 - Secure PDF). Another good alternative source is the ISO Standard 10816-3 Mechanical vibration — Evaluation of machine vibration by measurements on non-rotating parts, addressing standard type machines with nominal power above 15Kw (20 hp), with running speeds between 120 and 15000 rpm.
Vibration Testing of natural frequencies will need to be determined and typically are required to be no less that 15% from any normal operation speed.
CMS has analysts and field technicians available to support pumping stations in terms of acceptance testing and routine condition monitoring. Remote pumping stations can benefit from online monitoring systems that offer protection and remote analysis. On critical installations, the cost benefit when compared to travel expenses and logistics makes our remote online systems economical and the best choice.
